Walter J. Rogers Jr, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 24, 2013 from Memorial North Park Hospital
Walter was a graduate of Marion County High School of 1944; he graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1948 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was in The United States Navy, where he retired as a Commander. He was employed by TVA for over 40 years as Supervisor of Electrical Purchasing Section. Walter was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church for 53 years where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a past president of the Red Bank Lions Club and a member of the John Sevier Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
He was an avid UT football fan and served as an usher for several years. He was also an Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
Walter is preceded in death by his wife Mary Corinne Rogers; parents Walter and Lillie May Spears Rogers Sr.; son-in-law James Lee
He is survived by his two daughters Barbara Lee of Buford, Georgia and Judith (Lee) Thomas of Huntsville, Alabama,
four grandchildren Robyn Michelle and Kelli Marie Jones and Logan Jordan and Corey Austin Thomas
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6 -8pm on Friday March 1 , 2013 and on Saturday March 2, 2013, at 10 am until the time of service at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 on March 2 , 2013 in the funeral home chapel
with Rev. Bert Jones, Dr. Fred Steelman and Bill Harvey Officiating
Interment will follow to Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Walter Rogers’s name to Fellowship Sunday School Class- Missions Fund, Red Bank Baptist Church, 4000 Dayton Blvd, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415
