i was a freshman when walter was a senior along w/my sister. we were both in JROTC. i remember him as always being very kind and i am so sorry to hear his life was cut short at such a young age. my sincerest condolences to the family.

I will always remember and miss Walter. I was privileged to know him when he was an officer at the Juvenile Detention Center. He was a very kind man who had an interest in helping others. Heaven has gained a very good man! My prayers to his family and loved ones.

Walter was a wonderful and sweet person that is what I will remember most about him. I am so sorry for your loss. R.I.P Walter, you will be missed.

   We were saddened to hear of Walter's death. During this time, may God console you with His love and may angels surround Walter and welcome him into God's eternal peace.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Brad and I will always remember the wonderful young man we taught so long ago at ScenicLand.  We are so sorry to learn of your loss.  I kept my t-shirt he brought me from Bucksnort for many many years.  It was because of Walter that we became Partners in Hope at St.Jude's Hospital.  He was definitely an asset to this world and will be a shining star in heaven. He made such an impact on so many people.  We know he will always be sorely missed and fondly remembered.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Going camping and riding ATVs with Walter was such a treat! He always made it fun even if we were freezing! Will miss you Walter! God keep you in His arms now! Condolences to the family.

I remember Walter from ROTC and living up on Signal....he always had a smile on his face and was friends with everyone....RIP Walter, you will be missed dearly

Walter will always be remembered with such fond memories!!  I can't help but have a smile on my face when I think of the many antics he pulled when he worked for me at Waycrazy's.  You could always count on never being board when he was there.  We referred his work space as Wally" World, and you had better not be in his way or mess it up.
He will surely be missed and I am sure that Heaven has a special area for him.

Walter was a good friend. At work he was Mr.Gilbreath but on our off time he was Walter..my friend. He was such a kind,caring,giving man. He had this amazing laugh that would light up a room. He had spunk and determination-never afraid of anything. You are going to be missed but always know that there is this big space in my heart where you will always be. Always loved-Always missed-But never forgotten. Can't wait til I see you again one day.

I am so sorry to hear of Walter's passing, He was so much fun in high school and just a great guy.  He will be missed.  Our Prayers and Thoughts are with you.

Susan I'm so sorry for the pain you and your family are having now and pray for all of you. Walter was so kind and worked so hard for his community and of us at Waldens Ridge Emergency Service will miss him. He and I used to practice a lot of climbing and rappelling. Even though he did not feel comfortable participating in some of those activities anymore, he would be there to help us in anyway he could. He was so good to people, I am sure he is with God . Walter and I have been friends seems like forever. I am very fortunate to have had a friend like him. They broke the mold when they made Walter. It still hasn't completely sunk in that I'll never get to see him again or hear that laugh. walter never said much, usually just sat and listened but when he did it was usually spot on and left everyone in stitches. He could get you laughing one minute then turn around and have you ready to strangle his stubborn neck the next. You were always there when someone called and now we will all be there for you. Gonna miss ya buddy.

Your spirit and fight for life will be truly missed..... Your a true meaning of a hero in my eyes . May you spirit live on in all the lives you touched.

Walter was a rare, caring soul who would give you the shirt off his back and never expect anything in return. He was always a good friend and will be sorely missed. Walter had a very big and caring heart. He was always ready to help anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed. He will hold a special place in my heart for all his kindness and the many good times we shared. Without his help I'm not sure where I'd be.
