Ms. Virginia Morton

Virginia Morton, 91, passed away November 20, 2017 due to complications with pneumonia and related issues. Virginia was born on September 20, 1926 in Glenmary, Tennessee. After graduation from Glenmary High School she worked many years at Harriman Hosiery Mill before settling on Mowbray Mountain. She was extremely proud and very active in her community, Mowbray Presbyterian Church and Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department. She loved the rural life, having a big garden, raising chickens and quilting.

Preceding her in death were parents, Robert and Edna Fairchild; brother, James Fairchild; sisters, Charlotte Harmon and Barbara Jenkins; son, Van Hughett and husband, Austin Morton.

She is survived by sons, Bill (Gail) Hughett and Charles Hughett; grandchildren, Buffy Hughett, Brandy Hughett, Amanda Seel, Sonia Moore, Brandon Hughett and Crystal Hughett and several great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 1 pm with Rev. Tom Shomate officiating at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. Interment will follow after at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
