She was a private Secretary for 40 years and was Secretary of The Year in 1975. She was a past President of the Pilot Club of Chattanooga. She was an extremely talented needlework artist and was an esteemed member of the Embroiderer’s Guild, where they referred to her as a legend. Virginia was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church where she was active in the altar guild, the Stephen Ministry, and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Max F. Gill. She is survived by her son, Ray (Cynthia) Gill of Rossville, GA; son, Robert (Nancy) Gill of Paducah, KY; daughter, Loyce (David) Smith of Hixson, TN; son, Joel Gill of Rossville, GA; granddaughter, Stephanie Gill; and great grandson, Otis Landtroop.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9th from 4-8 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, February 10th at 11:00 am at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Special thanks to the Lantern staff at Morning Pointe of Hixson, who without their heartfelt caring, mom would not have had the quality of life she deserved. We can never repay the kindness shown to our mother. We would also like to express our thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga for their kindness and care.
