Tom was a lifelong resident of the Hixson area and retired from Piping Supply Company with over 35 years of service. He was an active member of Maranatha Baptist Church where he served as an usher, was the church chef and served as church overseer to the Maranatha Hospital Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Shockley.
Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jimmie Shockley; two children, Suzanne Southerland and Tommy Shockley; three grandchildren, Chad (Holly) Howard, PFC. T. J. (Christin) Shockley and Cody Southerland; a great grandson, Abram; four sisters, Wilma Gooden, June Morgan, Joyce (Ray) Price and Pamela (Larry) Parton; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM on Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the North Chapel and 12 (noon) to 1 PM on Tuesday at the church.
Services for Tom will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday at Maranatha Baptist Church 1701 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421, with Rev. Jeremy Wallace and Dr. John Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the Maranatha Baptist Church Hospital Ministry.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
