Susan’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she impacted throughout her years. Her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends and all who were honored with her presence received the enduring gift of her gentle spirit, compassion and listening ear. Her courage and sense of adventure took her around the world - cycling in Italy, rafting in Costa Rica and hang gliding in the Lookout Mountain Valley, close to her home of many years where she raised her children. Her love of nature was celebrated hiking miles of trails in the mountains surrounding Highlands, North Carolina, where she loved to spend summers; walking the beaches of South Carolina and Florida with family; playing rounds of golf in Highlands, and Chattanooga; or relaxing on the dock of the family cabin on Watts Bar Lake, not far from where she grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, before enrolling at the University of Chattanooga. Her kindness was exhibited throughout her life, including her volunteer work with Little Miss Mag Early Learning Center, Junior League, Meals on Wheels, or simply providing a meal for anyone in need.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Dr. Peter Eric Boehm, Sr; four children, Peter (Lauren) Boehm, Alison (Jeremy) Barlow, Kate (Philip) McGowan, and Nick Boehm; 9 grandchildren, Meghan, Ben, and Ann Boehm; Olivia and Ava Barlow; and Lilly, Hank, Ali, and Maddie McGowan; a brother, Mike Hayes; a sister, Rusty Duffy; and many special in-laws and nieces and nephews.
