Sammie Smith, 87, of Chattanooga died Friday, November 4, 2022. He was born November 14, 1934 in Chattanooga to the late Willie and Mary Katherine Smith. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Stan Sitton, and a daughter, Gloria Guest.
Mr. Smith was a longtime member and elder of Calvary Bible Church. He was a member of the Alhambra Shrine and the shrine horse patrol.
He was retired from Raines Brothers Construction after 30 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Imogene Smith, children, Marty (Susie) Smith, and Christie Farish, Susan (John) Noblit, Kenneth Guest, Gerald (L.A.) Guest, Gordon (Ann) Guest, Phillip (Jill) Guest, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren and a brother, Ronnie Smith.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 Wednesday, November 9, at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. Bill Henry officiating.
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Wednesday from noon – 1:30.
