Bob was born on March 21st, 1931, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania.
After graduating from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) and serving active duty as a combat engineer, Bob worked as a chemical engineer at DuPont. During the Berlin crisis, he was called back to active duty and then returned to DuPont in Chattanooga, where he worked for 42 years as a plant engineer. He also served as a reserve officer in the Chattanooga Combat Engineering Garrison and in FEMA. He retired as a Colonel.
In 1960, he married Grethe Laursen and raised two children, Eric and Nils.
Bob and Grethe were avid travelers. He kept a checklist of the 56 countries they visited over the years.
Bob is survived by his sons, five grandchildren, and his sister Nancy.
There will be no memorial service due to the pandemic.
The interment will be held privately at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
