He was born on April 20, 1947 in Orange, New Jersey to the late Frank and Ruth Shaw. “Rick” retired with over 25 years of service from Claridge Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City New Jersey, where he repaired slot machines. He and his late wife Arlene moved to Dunlap in 2009. “Rick” loved working in his yard, planting trees, and flowers. He would often sit on his porch listening to the wind chimes and watching the birds, “Rick” also enjoyed tinkering in his garage and working on his cars. He was also known to enjoy a Frosty from Wendy’s whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Linda Arlene Rogers Shaw.
“Rick” is survived by his children, Bryan (Arlana) Shaw, Bakersfield, CA and Kimberly (Kenneth) Byerley, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob (Bethany) Shaw, Bakersfield, CA and Jaden and Kalei Byerley, Chattanooga; sister, Susan Shaw, Toms River, NJ; brothers, William “Bill” (Leticia) Shaw, Overland Park, KS, Michael (Donna) Shaw, Little Egg Harbor, NJ, John (Rhonda) Shaw, Loveland, CO and David (Karen) Shaw, Edwards, CO; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank his friends and neighbors from Dunlap, for their love and friendship.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, May 10, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of “Rick’s” life for will follow at 1 pm on Friday at the North Chapel with Pastor Richard Rea officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
