Richard W. Collins

Richard was a graduate of Hixson High School Class of 1992. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in both Chemical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Chattanooga in 1997. He went on to work at W.R. Grace serving primarily as a chemical engineer and also as an IT specialist. More recently he worked at UNUM as an IT Manager. His main passion was serving the Lord. Richard loved spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was rooting on University of Alabama sports, especially football. He also enjoyed computer gaming, robotics, and circuitry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Rick” Collins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon Collins and son, Alex Lamb; mother, Sandra Collins; brothers, Brian Collins, Russell (Rachael) Collins, Kevin (Kathy) Collins, and his nieces and nephews Connor; Cassie; Kadi; and Sam Collins, and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held in the Hixson United Methodist Church on Thursday December 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Chuck Starks, Senior Pastor and Rev. Drew McCallie, Pastor. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Richard’s memory to Big Oak Ranch, 250 Jake Mintz Rd, Gadsden, AL 35905, www.bigoak.org

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
