Raymond D Chambers, 100, of Chattanooga died Tuesday, October 3, 2023. He was born 05/04/1923 in Chattanooga to the late Ulysses and Pearl Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Emma Chambers; sons, Wade Chambers and Gerald Chambers; 2 brothers and twin sisters.; a grandson, Shane Daniels.
He loved the Lord and was a member of a local church. Mr. Chambers was a World War II US Army Veteran. He was a golden glove boxer. He was a member of the Red Bank/North Chattanooga Lions Club.
Survivors include daughters, Wanda (Michael) Whitener, Mary Sue Chambers and Virginia Jo Chambers; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his closest friend, Jim Sadler; companion, Barbara Painter and family.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 Monday, October 9 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday, October 10 at the North Chapel with Reverend Don Glenn officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
