Patricia “Pat” Bearden Shumaker, age 84, of Chattanooga, our sweet mom and “Mimi” is now holding hands and resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, who welcomed her home with “the love of her life”, W. J., on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Pat was born in Clarksville, Tennessee to the late Gilmer and Ola Bearden. She was a 1959 graduate of Tennessee Tech. Pat was a longtime member of Bayside Baptist Church. She was an expert seamstress and an avid golfer. Pat loved to participate in the Senior Olympics where she played softball and volleyball. She loved being involved in activities with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. J. Shumaker.
Pat is survived by her children, Van (Angie) Shumaker and Leigh (Pat) Sullivan; 5 grandchildren, Ryne (Morgan) Shumaker, Morgan (Andrew) Mayfield, Reese Shumaker, Sloan (Aaron) Aucker, and Tyler Sullivan; 3 great grandchildren; Walker Shumaker, Maddox Mayfield, and Hutton Shumaker; several nieces, nephews and a special thank you to her loving caregiver, Danielle Larson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 7 and 12 to 1 pm on Friday, April 8, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Pat’s life will follow at 1 pm on Friday, at the North Chapel with Pastor Grady Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
