Nelmon was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and served our country in the United States Army. He was a retired electrician with DuPont with over 43 years of service. Nelmon was a member at Morris Hill Baptist Church.
His brothers, Charles and Edwin Smith preceded him in death.
Nelmon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Stiles Smith; two daughters, Lise (Stephen) Williams of Ooltewah and Ann (Jim) Indermill of Duluth, Georgia; four grandchildren, Kathy (Andrew) Bailey of Boise, Idaho, Melissa (Brian) Tieslau of Sugar Loaf, Georgia, Bryan (Chevy) Williams of Ooltewah, and Brad Williams of Taipei, Taiwan; six great grandchildren; Piper Williams, Daniel Bailey, Greyson Williams, Miller Tieslau, Sarah Bailey, and Baylor Tieslau; four siblings, Lucian, Anita, Rachel, and Melba; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 (noon) until 2:30 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:30 pm on Tuesday at the North Chapel with Reverend Bill Mason officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
