Nancy S. McDaniel passed away on June 15, 2024. She was born on September 12, 1932 to Paul and Lucille Shelton. Nancy graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1950, won a scholarship to UC (UTC), earned a secretarial certificate after 2 years, and was then employed by TVA In 1953, she married her college sweetheart, Harold, who preceded her in death.
Nancy returned to UTC and graduated with a BS in Business Education in 1971. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Kappa Chi Epsilon, Mortar Board, and the Alpha Society.
Nancy was an active member of the Red Bank United Methodist Church, the Pianist of her Sunday school class, UMW President, on the Kitchen crew, a prayer warrior, and a nursery volunteer. Her favorite ministry was visiting shut-ins.
She was a compassionate person who loved the Lord, her church, and her family. A seamstress since her youth-she made many quilts in her later years. Nancy was also very well read.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents; son, Edward; brother, Dr. Paul Shelton and wife Jean; niece, Dr. Charlotte White; and special Aunt Daisy Harrington.
She is survived by three children, Frances Parnell (Randy), Dean, and Greg (Patti) McDaniel; eight grandchildren, John, Jenny Parnell, Jackie Crouch (Kent); Luke, Zachary, Malorie, Paul and Jacob McDaniel; one great grandchild, Cooper; a Nephew, Dr. Steve Shelton (Cindy); and niece, Paula Robin (Dave).
Visitation will be at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel on Wednesday, June 19th from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm and at Red Bank United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 20th from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 am with Pastor Ken Sauer officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Harold, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
