Mary Clare Greene was a beautiful ray of light, who entered our world on March 25, 2003, and instantly brought joy and unconditional love to everyone she touched. We believe she was an angel sent from heaven and here she blessed countless family, friends, and others with her infectious smile, sparkling eyes, adventurous spirit, and unbridled zest for life.
Mary Clare – or MC as she was known by many – taught us how to approach life positively, bravely and joyfully. God called her home on September 12, 2024, where she no doubt heard Him say, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
Mary Clare spent her early childhood alongside her big brother, Alex, in Atlanta, Georgia. Despite learning challenges and many encounters with specialists, she never complained and persevered by overcoming any potential setbacks. She was strong and unstoppable.
MC attended Riverview School in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she made innumerable friends and excelled in sports. Two years in a row, she received the Riverview Track and Field Sportsmanship Award. She was also honored with the Most Improved Cross Country Award, a reflection of her tenacity and never-quit spirit. Notably, the Riverview School track and field area was renovated, improved, and named in her honor. She especially enjoyed working at the local community coffee shop and often called her Mom, gushing with stories from her work day. She also enjoyed volunteering at the senior center, where she no doubt brightened the residents’ days with her innate kindness and sweet laugh.
She spent some of her school breaks and summers with her Dad at his home in Aspen, Colorado. She enjoyed skiing, hiking, bicycling, and exploring the beautiful landscape.
MC graduated from Riverview in June of 2024 and enrolled in the Life Program at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, in September. She loved being a college co-ed – going to football games and getting ready for sorority rush – and quickly added to her already sizeable friend group. She was living her best life, always up for a new adventure, along with three of her new friends on the day she went to heaven.
While she has physically left our earthly world, MC will never leave our hearts. We invite everyone who knew MC to keep her memory alive by living how she lived – honestly, hopefully, and happily.
