Mary was born to Frank and Willie Dimple Huddleston, on February 11,1941. She was a proud graduate of The University of Tennessee, and especially loved her Lady Vols. Mary was a lifetime educator and served as both teacher and librarian at Central High School. She loved her school and her students deeply. She was considered to be a second mom to many, who continued their special relationship with her throughout their adult lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband James E. Brown, Jr., her parents, Frank and Willie Dimple Huddleston, her brothers Roy Lee Huddleston and Hugh Walker Huddleston, and her sister Sue Huddleston Calahan. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Mark Brown, and grandchildren, Ana Ravyn Cook, and Drake Rowyn Cook; her daughter, Dr. Vicki Brown Anderson, and grandson, Luke Robert Anderson. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Mildred (Bob) Manning of Clinton, TN; brother, Bill (Susan) Huddleston of Senoia, GA; sister in law, Pat Huddleston, of Hixson, TN; brother-in-law, Dee Calahan, of Phoenix,AZ; sister-in-law, Charlotte Chambers, of Knoxville,TN ; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with The Rev. Eric Light and Fr. Joel Huffstetler officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – until service time, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family prefers gifts to be sent to the Central High School Library, 5728 TN-58, Harrison, TN 37341. Please designate the funds to go to the, E. Y. Chapín Library Fund.
