Mary Elizabeth Bidwell

She was born May 31,1936 to Wilburn Underwood and Ruth Dobbs Porter. Liz demonstrated expertise as a shopper, interior designer, and sales representative. Her spiritual commitment was demonstrated through active participation in The Ministry Center. Her most treasured responsibilities were those of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Liz is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bidwell; daughter, Sharon Davis; parents, listed above; and sisters, Raye Penny Scott and Charlotte Underwood Privett.

Survivors include children, Kathy (Kirk) Arwood, Tommy (Kim) Marler, Pam Vandergriff, and Robin Vandergriff; grandchildren, Eric Ralls, Philip (Jolene) Wilson, Heather Davis, April (Kevin) Christian, Tiffany Marler, Miranda Hester, Misty (Andy) Gilliland, Jason (Jill) Day, and Alisha Day; great-grandchildren, Katie Wilson, Ryman Ralls, Griffin Ralls, Harrison Ralls, Landyn Wilson, Bradyn Wilson, Caleb Christian, James Angel, T.J. Marler, and Noah Gilliland; brother, Billy Jack (Debbie) Holbrook; sister, Patsy Morgan; brother-in-law, Bishop Clayton Privett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of CHI Memorial and Hearth Hospice for the care they took with Liz.

A visitation for Mary will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, P.O. Box 9, Hixson, TN 37343. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 14, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home officiated by Bishop Phil Harris. A committal service will occur Monday, October 14, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
