She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Walter Kaiser, Jr. and her parents, Margaret Ryan and John B. Crimmins, all of Lookout Mountain, TN.
She is survived by her children, Mary Anne (Rick) Williams and Herbert W. (Julie) Kaiser, III and grandson, Samuel Herbert Kaiser; her brother, John B. (Marie) Crimmins, Jr. and sister, Anne C. Awad; and niece and nephews, John (Debbie) Crimmins, III, Ward (Sally) Crimmins, Meg Crimmins Beene, Ryan (Boofie) Crimmins and Chris (Susan) Crimmins. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Jenny Beene (Sam) Gunn, Charlotte Beene, John Crimmins, IV, Ryan, (Melissa) Jr., Conley and Bryson Crimmins, and Will and Elizabeth Crimmins. She was great-great aunt to Declan Gunn.
Margaret was born June 11, 1925 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended All Saints School and graduated from Notre Dame High School. She attended Mary Mount College, Tarrytown, NY and in 1948, graduated from the University of Chattanooga, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women. Margaret was manager of the record department, owned by Rolly and Catherine Curtis, on the mezzanine at Loveman’s Department Store in downtown Chattanooga and was also a buyer and manager of The Top Shop gift shop on Lookout Mountain. An active community volunteer, Margaret was a past sustaining member of the Junior League of Chattanooga, the Junior League Garden Club, the Ladies of Charity, the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Guild, READ Chattanooga, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and was a former member the Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club. She was a life long member of Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church prior to her move to Alexian Village on Signal Mountain, TN.
Her many friends and family recall her delightful sense of humor, gentle nature and, with her husband, flair for entertaining. Many a pleasant hour was passed on the front porch of their home on Lookout Mountain. The family wishes to thank the staff of Alexian Health Care Center, Palliative Care Service and Hospice of Chattanooga for their devoted care to Margaret over the years.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Main Chapel of Alexian Village, Signal Mountain, TN on Monday, March 25, 2013. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until just before the service at 2:00pm.
Internment will be at Lake Lawn/Metarie Cemetery, New Orleans, LA at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
