Lecil M. Thurman, 91, of Hixson, TN, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012. A native of Bledsoe County, she has been a resident of the Chattanooga area most of her life and was retired from Quaker Oats. She was the wife of the late Fred Thurman and was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Kenneth Thurman; great-granddaughter, Brandi Mizell and a sister, Johnnie Martin. Survivors include a son, John E. (Dean) Thurman, Ooltewah; daughter, Juanita (Robert) Beasley, Hixson, TN; eight grandchildren, Ramona, Tammy, Mary Lecil, April, Craig, Karen, Stephanie and Kelly; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Edna Thurman, Glenis Thurman, Billie Roberts, Mildred Griffith and Wilma Griffith; two brothers, Carlos Swafford and Wendell Swafford; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Quillen Thurman officiating. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37403. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153.
