Kathleen “Kat” A. Wilkey Smith, 91, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2020. Kat was born in Dayton, TN on January 17, 1928 to the late James Arthur Wilkey and Julia Ann Smith Wilkey.
Kat was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member New Haven Baptist Church and also a member of the Red Hat Society Chattanooga Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, McCallie “Lonnie” Smith; sons, David and Stevie Smith; and great grandson, Hayden McCallie Shelton.
Survivors include her son, Mack Smith (Julie); daughter, Susie Abernathy (Charlie); daughter, Kim Evers (Michael); daughter, Tina Shelton; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. Graveside funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 8th at 11:00 am at Hamilton Gardens with Rev. Robert Schrader officiating.
