June W. Jones, 88, of Chattanooga, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015.
The ever-smiling face of Nikki’s Restaurant, June welcomed generations of Chattanooga’s families and guests. Known affectionately as the smiling white -haired lady, June listened, respected and genuinely appreciated all individuals that came into her life.
She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Bernola Williams. June was preceded in death by her childhood companion and husband for life, Charles Jones.
June’s unwavering support of her family was the cornerstone of her life, which she followed through the years to this principle.
A lover of different plant species and flowers, she enjoyed an enriched life of beauty and pleasure with the planting and rising of different strains. Schooling at Central High School and the University of Chattanooga, she remained close to many in her classes. She was a member of the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, Signal Mountain Garden Club, North Chattanooga Book Club and the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club.
She loved and respected all her co-workers (family) at Nikki’s and all that they contributed to the Chattanooga landmark.
June is survived by her brother, Jim Williams of Signal Mountain; nephew, Ralph (Evelyn) Williams of Chattanooga; sons, Charles (Karen) Jones, Jim (Sheila) Jones; special friend, Janis Jones; grandsons, Grant Jones, Jake Anderson, Mike Jones; granddaughters, Kim (Scott) Steele and Kasha (Travis) Griffith; great-granddaughters, Grace Elizabeth Steele and Sarah Elizabeth Griffith; great-grandson, Ethan Steele; nieces, Becky (John) Garvich, Becky Conner; great-niece, Tenley (Nick) Armstrong; and great-nephew, Mack Conner.
Special thanks to Kim Dodd for her personal care, and June’s ever-cherished, supportive neighbors Rick and Pam Pollard, who were always there for her.
