Joyce was born on October 31, 1930 the youngest of four children to the late Jessie and Frank Lovelady. She was mentored by her brother Lee and sisters, Emmeline and Pansy. Joyce became the most gracious, humbled and classic lady. She worked at Woolworth’s on Market Street and taught dance at the Arthur Murray Studios at the age of 16. Joyce retired from DuPont with over 30 years of service. Although mother made many acquaintances in her life, her devotion and compassion to her friends and family never ended. Her granddaughters were the love of her life. She was an avid gardener and the fruits of her labor were well known in the Middle Valley area.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands, E. Paul McGee and Harold P. Casey.
She is survived by her son, E. Frank McGee; granddaughters, Hailey Shea McGee and Rebecca Paige McGee and their mother, Paula Reagan; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel.
Graveside services for Joyce will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at National Cemetery with Chaplain Don Sapp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s name to Avalon Hospice, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 19, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
