John Sass Jr., 82, entered life on October 19, 1932 and entered eternal life on March 31, 2015
Born and raised in Michigan, he and his wife of 22 years, Joan, Lived in Hixson for the past 10 years.
And outstanding athlete in numerous sports and an avid golfer, John was an All-State football player in high school and continued to play both football and baseball at Eastern Michigan University, but baseball was his true love and he was a catcher for the Detroit Tiger organization for three years. After leaving baseball, he earned his MBA from Michigan State University. His business career included Ford Motor Company, a number of years as the first non-CPA partner in the consulting division of the firm now known as KPMG, managing a recruiting organization, and retiring form a position in 2004 as President and CEO of an alcohol and drug rehad center in Memphis, MI.
In addition to his wife Joan, he leaves his daughter, Kathryn ( Gordon) Baxter of Maine, Sue ( Tom) Cunningham, Chris ( Kathryn) and Donald Sass, all of Georgia, his sister, Midge Mamatas, of Florida, five grandchildren and a number of step-children.
