Doug moved from Roanoke, Virginia to Chattanooga in 1987 and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway with over 35 years of service. He was an avid Harley Davidson lover, enjoyed his Road King Bike and in August went To Sturgis, South Dakota for the bike rally. Doug was an animal lover, loved woodworking and just enjoying life with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Oleida Dickerson Marcum; his second wife, Deborah Kersey Marcum and a step-daughter, Leslie Andrews.
Doug is survived by his first wife, Dixie Mattox Marcum; daughters, Leigh Ann Fryar and Amy Renee Jewell of Greenville, South Carolina; step-daughters, Julie (Tim) Farmer and Jamie (Matt) King; step-son-in-law, Chris Andrews; seven step-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mildred E. Kersey; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Shirley) Kersey;
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday at the North Chapel.
Graveside services for Doug will follow at 3 pm on Sunday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Grant Chauncey officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doug’s name to McKamey Animal Shelter, 4500 North Access Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415.
