He was born on May 19, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John and Euna Holland. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Lewis.
John was a member at Abba's House. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a Mechanical Engineering degree, he began his career with TVA in January 1974. For over the next 40 years, he held positions ranging from Mechanical Engineer to Project Specialist to Manager.
Together with his teammate and loving partner, Terri, they built a wonderful life together filled with many memories.
Johnny (what his relatives in Georgia called him) was a quiet, gentle and kind man with a dry wit. He was a loyal and faithful supporter to his family. John enjoyed carpentry, photography and traveling, but what he loved more than anything was to watch his grandchildren in their various activities. He had much wisdom and experience in many areas and was always willing to share his knowledge and help others when asked. His family was blessed by his vast array of abilities. He leaves a lasting legacy and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Terri Holland; three children he was so very proud of, Christie (Randy) Roach, Jeff (Jamie) Holland and Tony (Shauna) Holland; nine precious grandchildren, Alexis, Kylan, Logan, Charli, Camden, Caden, Tony, Ryker and Hudson; caring sisters from Georgia, Brenda Ivey and Cyndi Purvis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A receiving of friends for John will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will occur on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Sammy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
