He was a native of Scottsboro, Alabama and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. Joe was an Eagle Scout and served our country in the United States Navy. He retired with over 47 years of employment with Buster Brown formerly Skyland International. Joe loved to play softball and pitched for over 15 years. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Joyce Peavy McBay and a daughter, Ramona Kay McBay.
He is survived by his two sons, Steve (Sharon) McBay of Harriman and Terry McBay of Red Bank; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Glen McBay of Spring City, Don (Virginia) McBay and Larry (Pam) McBay both of Pikeville; special friends, Barbara Williams and Donna Goodfellow; caregiver, Faye Criss and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday and again on Monday from 12 to 1 pm at the North Chapel.
A graveside service for Joe will follow at 1 pm on Monday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
