Joe was born in Manchester Tennessee to the late Henry and Ella Hobbs Carr. He served our country in the United States Army Signal Corp where he was recently honored with the Quilt of Honor. Joe retired from Brock Candy Company. He was a former member or Pinecrest Baptist Church on Signal Mountain.
Joe was a very outgoing and generous individual who loved everyone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian J. Carr; and Joe was the last of his siblings.
Joe is survived by his children, Lesia (David) Stuart and Philip Carr; one granddaughter, Casey (Nick) Blazek; three great grandchildren, Baxter, Bentley and Clara Beth; sister-in-law, Margaret Lacy; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dominion Assisted Living for 5 great years of Memory Care, the staff at Solomon’s House for his end of life care and the staff with Hearth Hospice for their love and care given to dad. Joe felt like he was at home at Solomon’s House where he passed peacefully.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to Hearth Hospice, 513 Georgia Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm on Tuesday, February 6, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Joe will follow at 4 pm on Tuesday, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
