James Elbert Pewitt

He enjoyed many years of working in his garden, music at the Mtn. Opry and being an active member of Falling Water Baptist. He most recently attended Middle Cross Baptist. Jim was retired from South Central Bell.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Cagle Pewitt, daughter Lissa Vickery, 6 sisters: Vernon Herb, Mable Wright, Mildred Crowell, Ethel Pugh, Catherine Brown, Sara Dotson: and two brothers: John Green Pewitt and Earl Pewitt. He dearly loved his siblings and enjoyed sharing stories of special times together on the family farm.

He is survived by his son: Jeff (Karen) Pewitt of Maryville: Two daughters, Kathy (David) Latondress of Murfreesboro, Julie (Chris) Armstrong of Chattanooga and Son-in-law Kent Vickery: One brother Lester Pewitt. He leaves a legacy of 8 grandchildren: Will and Sarah Vickery, Jackie and Joseph Donovan, Hayden and Parker Pewitt, Emily and Harris Armstrong. The most recent addition to his family was a great-grandchild, Alyssa Vickery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 Thursday Dec. 20th at the Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel (Hixson). The funeral will be at the same location on Friday Dec. 21st at 1:30 with graveside service following.
