James “Jim” L. Dickerson, 80, of Knoxville, TN passed away at home December 12, 2010. A native of Chattanooga, he lived in Baton Rouge, LA from 1982 until 2009 before moving to Knoxville, TN. He was retired from G& E Engineering, where he was a senior engineer for almost 14 years and had also served as Plant Manager for CF Industries in Chattanooga. Jim was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Lutheran Church or our Savior in Baton Rouge and previously a member of Trinity Lutheran in Hixson. Jim, the son of the late Edward and Mildred Davis Dickerson, is preceded in death by son Mark Henley Dickerson, and two brothers, John E. Dickerson and William D. Dickerson. He was a member of the Hixson Masonic Lodge #727 F&AM and a graduate of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. He was an avid fisherman, birdwatcher and RC airplane hobbyist. He was also a private pilot who loved flying and was a member of the EAA Association. Jim was a fan of UT football, basketball and Lady Vols sports programs. Survivors include his wife, Marion Sizer Dickerson, Sweetwater; James Allen Dickerson and his wife, Wendy, Chattanooga; two daughters, Cristi Moser, DVM, Knoxville, TN and Shannon Moser Rudd and her husband Clifford, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Nick Dickerson, Cole Dickerson, Kelsey Rudd and Maddy Rudd; special friends, Mary Rice, Louisville, TN, George Evans, Baton Rouge, LA and Lloyd Salter, Monroe, LA; and special K-9 friends, Mario and Maverick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Schimmer officiating. Interment will in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at americanheart.org. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153.
