Jack was born on February 19, 1925, in Fayette County, Alabama. He served our country in World War II in the Pacific Campaign from New Guinea, Liberation of the Philippines through the invasion of Japan. Jack received a B.S. and M.S. from Auburn University. He was a faithful Christian and a long-time member of Central Church of Christ. Jack retired from TVA and was a member of the Soddy Daisy American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Madison Tucker and Madiera Howton Tucker; his beloved granddaughter, Leigh-Allyn Tucker; several brothers and sisters.
Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frieda Dill Tucker; children, Margaret (Tom) Brucker, Laura (Jim) Hickman and Allan J. (Karri) Tucker; grandsons, Aaron J. (Kristina) Tucker, II and Nathan A. Brucker; two great granddaughters and two nieces.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. EST on Saturday and 1 to 2:30 p.m. EST on Sunday at the North Chapel on Highway 153, in Hixson.
A celebration of life service for Jack will be held at 2:30 p.m. EST on Sunday at the North Chapel with Minister David Schonhoff officiating. Pallbearers are John Ackerman, Bill Beck, Wheeler Cage, Charles French, Fred Hafley, and Robert McGrath serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Elders and Deacons of Central Church of Christ and also Arch Trimble, Jr., and Glenn Ezell.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. CST on Monday at Scott Cemetery in Walker County, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, Maryland 20814, (800) FIGHT CF or Martin Boyd Christian Home, 6845 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
