Hal was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and was a member of Hamilton Pointe Church. He was a U. S. Army retiree having served in Vietnam and Korea. Hal was a member of Red Bank Masonic Lodge. He had served as a Sheriff Deputy in Fort Detrick, Maryland. Hal was a retired owner and operator of Fix Heating and Air. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. Fix, Sr. and Marjorie Riker Fix.
Hal is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Renslow Fix; daughter, Pastor Sherry Fix Layne and her husband Tony Layne; sons, J. R. Fix (Deacon at North Monroe Baptist Church) and his wife Lora, Will Fix (Associate Pastor at Hamilton Pointe Church) and his wife Ann Marie, Harold G. Fix and his wife Monica and Michael Fix; grandchildren, Joshua Fix, Lauren Fix, Morgan Fix, Sheena L. Layne, Chris Layne, Jamie Taylor Fix Hall, Adam Lance, Jake Lance, Jessica Lance Hooper; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel.
Services for Hal will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the North Chapel with Dr. Butch Varner and Pastor Dwight Henderson officiating. Military honors will follow the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at National Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Jerry, Tony and Chris Layne and Adam and Jake Lance and Phillip Renslow. Special friends Ted Gugler, Harold Jenkins, Jim Oing, Alan Witt and grandson Josh Fix will serve as honorary pallbearers.
