He was a 50 year member of the IBEW Local. Fred worked with all of the TVA plants and helped them put in place the high lines all over the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. G. “Sid” and Essie T. Day and a brother, Glen Day.
Fred is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley Collins Day; two daughters, Terri and husband Mark Cline and Tracie and husband Alan Bradbury; granddaughter, Lauren and husband Clay Copeland; three grandsons, Matthew Cline, Tyler and Jarrod Hobbs; three sisters, Doris Jackie (Claude) Griffith, Bertie (Clayton) Stewart and Leona (George) Widener; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the North Chapel.
Services for Fred will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Rev. William Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga for Standifer Place at P. O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
