He was preceded in death by his parents Lt. Col. Frank F. Harris, Sr. and Virginia Byers Harris; daughter, June Krug and son-in-law, James Krug; son-in-law, Gary Clark; grandson, Kevin Krug; and great-grandson, Alec Teter.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Betty Maddox Harris; sister, June Stein; children, Mary Danules (Joe), Ginny Manning (James), Julie Clark, Nancy Elliott (Russ), Franko Harris (Micki), and Michael Jarnevic (Maria). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and countless other family members.
Frank was born in Chattanooga, TN on January 18, 1927. His father was a doctor in the army which led to the family moving to Fort Riley, KS when he was a teenager. He graduated from Junction City (KS) High School where he was a three sport varsity athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball. He then attended the University of Chattanooga where he graduated in 1949 with a B.S. in Chemistry.
Afterwards he worked for multiple chemical companies before opening his own business, Chem-Crafters, Inc. which he operated for more than forty years.
Frank loved being on the water so he and Betty moved to Possum Creek in 1970 and he has been a prominent fixture there ever since. In addition to his love for boating and fishing, he was an avid tennis player. He and Betty were longtime members of The Racquet Club in Hixson where they made countless friends. Frank was also the longest standing member of "Church on the Lake" at Bass Bay Marina, a true devotion of his for many years. He also enjoyed many vacations to Hilton Head, SC where he was able to spend quality time with his family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12th from 12:00 -2:00 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 with Rev. Betsy Kammerdiener officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
