Eugene "Gene" Sharpe

A native of Dayton, Tennessee and a longtime resident of Hixson. Gene was a retired Agent with State Farm Insurance Company. He served as a diligent, loyal and respected agent to his company for thirty-six years. He was a faithful member of Burks United Methodist Church for more than sixty years where he served on various committees. He was also an active member of Hixson Kiwanis Club with perfect attendance for thirty years. One of Gene’s passions was being a member of the Gideon’s. Gene loved passing out Bibles to those in need.

A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Jamie, of sixty-four years; sons, Larry Sharpe (Saundra), Rick Sharpe (Theresa), and David Sharpe (LeAnne); grandchildren, Steven Sharpe (Lindsey), Michael Sharpe (Liza), Jennifer Sharpe Douglas (Jeff), Ryan Sharpe (Esther), and Alex Sharpe; great grandchildren, Shelby and Madison Douglas, Molly and McKenzie Sharpe, and Thijs and Noa Sharpe, and Evan Sharpe.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Chattanooga for their support in his final days.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 pm on Thursday, September 11, at Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.

A celebration of “Gene’s” life will follow at 6 pm at the church with Reverend Rowland Buck and Reverend Amy Nutt officiating.

Graveside services will be private for the family only at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Gene’s name to Burks United Methodist Church or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37416
