Dorothy Jean Smith, 85, of Chattanooga died Sunday, April 29, 2018. She was born April 13, 1933 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Ike and Opal Hicks. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Henry; grandson, Daniel Stanfield; brothers, Jimmie Hicks, and Billy Hicks; son-in-law, Charles Stanfield.
She was a devout follower of Christ. Mrs. Smith was her daughter Lisa’s sole caregiver for nearly 31 years. A very hard worker Mrs. Smith loved flowers and filled every space with their beauty. Mrs. Smith loved to sew. She was a great crafter, she could make or paint anything. She loved to quilt.
Survivors include her daughters, Patty Stanfield and Debbie (Dennis) Higgins; grandsons, Matthew Higgins and Eric Higgins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-8 Wednesday evening.
