Donald Maxwell, a member of the “Greatest Generation,” was born on April 13, 1930. Raised in Erie, Pa., at St. Joseph’s Orphanage, Don demonstrated remarkable athleticism and an exceptional ability to learn and acquire new skills.
From 1951-1955, Don served in the U.S. Navy, and following his honorable service he completed college where his engineering talents flourished. Don embarked on an exciting new chapter as an engineer with the Bendix Corporation at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. His contributions in the Launch Support Division played a vital role in the growing space industry.
With five children and his beautiful wife, Don ventured to Tennessee, joining the Tennessee Valley Authority where he applied his expertise to bring the Sequoyah Nuclear Facility online. Retiring in 1995, Don found fulfillment in woodworking. His legacy projects are evident within the walls of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was a founding member.
