Deborah Kay Seale Hebert, 57, was freed from her earthly body Monday, June 14, 2010, at her Chattanooga home surrounded by her beloved husband, family, friends and devoted animals. She looks forward to a joyous reunion with those who preceded her in release from this life, her parents Alford Louis III and Louellen Rose Seale. She was a 1970 Hixson High School graduate.
Deb earned her Certified Professional Secretary designation, and worked at Textile Printing in East Ridge, then served as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President of Marketing & Public Relations at CBL & Associates, Inc.
Though she enjoyed her professional career, Deb’s real passions were found “after hours.” She had a voracious love for life and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and pastimes. She was an accomplished pianist, able to read music and play by ear. She was an equestrian, an avid traveler, and a pet lover. She was a devoted environmentalist and member of The Sierra Club. Deb was a talented seamstress, a published photojournalist, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her talents were many, but her proudest accomplishment was her brave fight against cancer. The disease first struck in 1994 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout her years of battling the disease, she made the most of every moment she was given. She traveled with friends and took photographs of the places she visited. She made jewelry and enjoyed gardening. She proudly worked the “Survivors’ Tent” each year at the Komen Chattanooga Race for the Cure®. Even during treatments and numerous health-related set-backs, she remained ready for her next big adventure, and continued to care for and support friends and acquaintances during difficult times.
Deb is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Randall, of Chattanooga, TN.; two sons, Michael Wallin, Jr., Chattanooga; and Patrick (Andrea) Wallin, USMC, Chula Vista, CA; two grandchildren, Haley Wallin and Audriana Wallin; cousins Nada Watkins, Somerset, KY, and Sharon Neighbors, Soddy-Daisy, TN.; and several other relatives and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Friday, June18, 2010 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening June 17, 2010 at the North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Deb’s memory to the Komen Chattanooga Race for the Cure®, P.O. Box 11288, Chattanooga, TN, 37401; or to The Sierra Club by calling 423-591-3354.
