David Lamar Weidner, age 81, of Lookout Mountain, GA passed away peacefully August 30, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Forest Weidner and Edith R. Broyles Weidner of Chattanooga, TN.
A graduate of City High School and The University of Tennessee where he earned a BS in Business Administration. He was also an alumni of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
David had a long and successful career in the insurance and investment business. He held designations from the American College as a Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC) and as a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU). He received several awards from insurance companies for insurance sales achievements.
David loved the game of Bridge and was a skilled player. He competed in many Bridge tournaments earning numerous Master points. He taught bridge at First Centenary United Methodist Church and he played frequently at the Chattanooga Bridge Center.
David enjoyed travel and had visited many countries to include Germany, Italy, Turkey, and most recently Ireland for the 2018 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He was also a longtime member of the Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club. His was a life well lived.
David is survived by his brother, John E. Weidner of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as his companion of 30+ years, Professor Anne Johnson of Lookout Mtn., GA. Also surviving David are his long time loyal, devoted and caring friends, William & Daphne Todd, Sheila Watts as well as many other friends, clients, and associates. The family would also like to thank the staffs of Manorhouse/Story Point Assisted Living and Life Care of Hixson for their recent care of David.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association in David’s name. Due to COVID concerns the family will have a private ceremony (invitation only- masks required) with burial at the Weidner family plot of the Lomenick Cemetery in East Ridge on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
