He was born March 21, 1945 to the late Robert and Helen Franklin. He was an active member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.
David was a kind man with a big heart. His passions included helping the homeless, kids, and gardening. Friends and neighbors were always asking for his "award winning" tomatoes. He loved all animals and caring for them, especially the two groundhogs that he would feed and watch play. David will always be remembered as a good man that was loved by many.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Linda Phillips, daughter, Marisa (Blake) Downey, grandson, Landon Downey, and a sister, Beverly Mayes.
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 12-2 Saturday, August 26, funeral services will follow at 2:00 at the North Chapel with Brother Ronnie Dotson officiating.
Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
