Dot was a 1943 graduate of Chattanooga High School. She retired from Provident Life and Accident Life Insurance Company. Dot was a charter member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church where she served as Chair of the Altar Guild for many years. She was a board member and volunteer at the Community Kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Tilman B. Thompson; father, Floyd H. Smith, Sr. and mother, Martha Lee Williamson; and sister, Christine Smith Townsend.
Dot is survived by her brother, Floyd H. Smith, Jr.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm on Tuesday, October 30 at the North Chapel.
Services for Dot will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with The Reverend and Honorable Sam Payne officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Altar Guild at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 848 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
