She was born and raised in Whitwell, and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. Clara was a former employee with General Services. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church.
Clara Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Bell Kilgore; siblings, Charles, Carl, James and Wayne Kilgore and Hazel Henderson.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, James “Buddy” Kilgore, Sr.; children, Ruby Gourley, Sharon Kilgore, Jimmy Kilgore, Nicole Beene and Wade and his wife Deborah Kilgore; grandson, Xzaiden Beene; siblings, Paul Kilgore, Nell Brown, Betty Gay, Leona Kilgore and Naomi Shaffles; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday and 1 to 3 pm on Sunday at the North Chapel.
A funeral service for Clara Louise will be held at 3 pm on Sunday at the funeral home chapel with her nephew Reverend Eugene Kilgore officiating.
The family has asked that you please make a memorial contribution in Clara’s name to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
