Chris was a graduate of Lee Highway Christian Academy. He honorably served our country for over fourteen years in the United States Army and served in four different combat tours as a Sargent. Chris during his service was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon and the Sharpshooter Badge for rifle.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Gladys Merrell and Mr. and Mrs. R.C. and Ruth Thompson.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved parents, Wendell and Nancy Merrell; sister, Sheri; nieces, Merrell, Jacqueline, and Emmerling.
There will be a private viewing for the family.
A graveside service for Christopher will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37406, with military honors and his uncle, Tommy Thompson presiding.
