Charles is preceded in death by his son, William Dickens, his father, Lucien Dickens and his mother, Marguerite James Dickens. He is survived by his wife Lisa M. Dickens, his half-sister, Joy Fogg of Winchester, VA and his best friends, Jerry Jones, Sue Mickel, Norman Stiefler and Howard Schnieder.
He was born on October 27, 1951 in Eureka, Kansas. Charles grew up and went to school in Fairborn, Ohio. He attended Wright State University and Xavier University, where he achieved Master’s Degrees at each university.
With an interest in psychology, he became a Hospital Administrator at several psychiatric hospitals in the area. Valley Psychiatric Hospital 2 years, Cumberland Hall, 15 years, and lastly, Moccasin Bend, where he served as Administrator for 12 years. He always was looking for ways to improve both patients and employees’ lives. He enjoyed helping people and was always ready for a challenge. Nothing was impossible for him. He always found a way to get things done.
He was always available to help if you had a problem or just to listen or to give advice. His friends and co-workers knew that they could rely on him. He never made you feel rushed or ignored. He was always there, ready to help.
Charles was a great believer in the value of education. He felt that a good education was one thing that no one could take away from you. He was always looking for ways to stay informed including reading several different newspapers and various news website each day.
Charles had a love of music. Jazz, country, blues, some of his favorites were Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, BB King and Willie Nelson.
He also had a great love of college basketball. Saturdays would find him cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats and his Xavier Musketeers.
Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
