I just learned of Mrs.  Calvert’s passing last night.  I have so many wonderful memories of her when I was at Berean.  I have talked of her many times through the years of the influence she had on me as my teacher.  She was strict and stern but just because she expected excellence.  She made you better.  She also influenced me spiritually and lead by example.   I have great memories of her as our Bible quizzing team coach - the Saturday mornings at the school practicing and preparing for our quizzing competitions and she making the team breakfast.  My prayers go out to John and Becky and their families.  Thank you Mrs. Calvert for you investing in my life!!

I met Miss Carol in 1974 and we taught together at Berean Academy.  She was a seasoned math teacher, and I was a green student teacher.  I learned much from Carol as we worked together, but mainly I learned by her example of professionalism.  Her attention to detail was what I needed ... and still need.  John and Carol were kind to me and my wife during those early years and over the many years since then.  The Calverts bought us a wood burning stove and I cut wood with Brother John and Richard Bird many Saturdays.  John and Carol were true Christian examples and steadfast in their commitment to Jesus Christ.  I miss Brother John and will miss Miss Carol.  May we all profit from having known them.  Psalm 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

To say I got extremely emotional when I heard that Mrs. Calvert had passed away would be an understatement..WHAT A WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL LADY!! I can't even begin to convey what all she meant to me, it would take volumes, however I will say..She was a Leader, she was a mentor, she was strong, intelligent and had such confidence and courage..She taught me so much during the years I served with her at Berean. I still remember how there was no situation that by God's grace she couldn't handle! I remember the times she not only was the administrator, also coach and so much more..Our God is an awesome God is a CD she gave out, if my memory serves me right, to the Volleyball Team, helping to get them focused on what mattered most, GOD and their relationship with Jesus and the WINS were second!  What a legacy she has left for others to learn from! I remember when I was teaching PE the first year, I became frustrated cause I couldn't seem to get the students to respect me. She said, in her authoritative tone "Darlene you take control, be their teacher first and being their friends will come later." So I put that into practice and it served everyone better..Becky, John and family, I can only imagine what her first day in Heaven looked like, no longer a hope, oh no IT IS REAL!! I will be praying for yall that God will bring a peace that passess all understanding! Thank yall so much for sharing such an awesome woman with us, she was an encouragement, inspiration and a great example for all to follow! God Bless YOU! Darlene Windom

      My heart was heavy and very saddened when I heard of your Mom's passing. Carol was a fun loving, kind, caring person with a zest for entertaining. I am so very grateful that I was given the opportunity to have her as a dear, close family friend. I know that Carol will be deeply missed. May God hold your family extra close, and give you comfort and strength during this most sorrowful time.

I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing.  She was one of my best friends.  I always looked forward to our Friday night calls when I moved to Delaware.  
She was also my mentor; I would not be the teacher I am today if your mom had not given me some guidance.
My favorite memory is when your mom and I were at the convention, we ordered room service for our dessert (chocolate, of course).
May you be comforted with God's comfort.


Our Deepest sympathy going out to Carol's family.  Sorry that the years' got away from us so quickly.  Carol was a bridesmaid in our wedding and then two of our children  Jeff was her ring bearer and Dee was her flower girl.

We were heartbroken to hear that Mrs C passed. Such a wonderful person and like a mother to me. We will be feeling her loss for a very long time. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all in this difficult time. Nothing can take away our fond memories of her. God bless.
