He was employed by Lynskey Performance Designs as a machinist. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, pastored by Jeff Cox, in Birchwood, TN and was mentored by close friends and former pastors Lloyd Harvill and James Hutchings. He was also a veteran of the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Thompson and Stella Phillips Thompson, his first wife, Willene J. Thompson and his brother, L.A. Thompson, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie Sue Thompson, his sister, Ruby Lynskey, and his children: Billy Scott (& Julie) Thompson, Susan (& Chris) Doss, Jackie (& Martha) Dishman, Bobby (& late Marie) Dishman, Roy Dishman, and Joe (& Christa) Rother. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kaylee Thompson, Rebecca Doss, Benjamin Doss, Stephanie Dishman Carter, Aaron Dishman, Nikki Dishman Moran, Tommy Dishman, Jesse Dishman, and David Rother. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was known for his generosity, kindness and strong work ethic. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, October 27th at 12:00 noon at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lloyd Harvill officiating.
