Born in Athens, Tennessee, Mrs. Bowman graduated from Red Bank High School and the University of Chattanooga and worked at TVA until the birth of her two children, Steve and Teresa. She was an active member of Red Bank United Methodist Church, where she was involved in many ministries over the past 50 years.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who is survived by her husband, Ted Bowman, her children Steve (Joanna) Bowman and Teresa (Phil) Bowman Elkins; grandchildren Melissa (Chris) Elkins Byrns, Alan Elkins, Julia Bowman, Laura Bowman, Chris Bowman, and Rachel Bowman; great-granddaughters Ella Walker and Charlotte Byrns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle Guthrie and sister, Imogene Gee.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday at Chattanooga Funeral Home – North Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Red Bank United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Smith officiating.
Memorial gifts may be given to Red Bank United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
