Betty was a lifelong resident of Hixson, Tennessee and graduated from Hixson High School. She retired from Memorial Hospital in the accounting department, retired from Sears at Northgate and was the co-owner with her late husband, of Northgate Sporting Goods. Betty was a longtime member of Hixson United Methodist Church where she played the piano and sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Ned W. Thaxton; her sister, Hilda Lewis and her brother, Hutch Lewis.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Judi (Gary) Brown and Patty (John) Morrison; her son, Tommy (Shara) Thaxton; grandchildren, Heidi (Jimmy) Cofer, Andy (Kadi) Brown, Luke and Laura Losey, Emily (Josh) Peace and Abbey Thaxton: sister-in-law, Donna Lewis. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Regency House for their love and care given to Betty, and a special thanks to her “Guardian Angel”, Sharon Scott. The family would also like to thank Hearth Hospice and Jessica for their love and compassion.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Private graveside services were held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. Mark Gooden officiating.
