On a beautiful sunny day in her beloved Chattanooga, Betty “Mac” Thomas, age 84, left this world on Tuesday, Feb. 21st after a short stay in the hospital. Born on July 17, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio, Betty moved to Chattanooga in 1947.
Betty is survived by a niece, Mary Frances Darne of Arlington, VA; a nephew, William Zimmerman of Albuquerque, NM, and several grand nieces and nephews. Also surviving are step daughters Ruth Sutherland of Shakopee, MN; Robin Avery of Nashville, TN; and Roberta Petricek of Wellsburg, WV; grandchildren H. David Jones of Shakopee, MN; Marcy Jill Avery of San Anselmo, CA; Mitchell Lee Thomas of Warner Robins, Georgia; and several great grandchildren.
As Mrs. Thomas requested cremation, the family would love to welcome you at the visitation this Friday, Feb. 24th at Chattanooga Funeral Home’s North Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations to their favorite Chattanooga charity be made in her honor.
