Dr. Barbara Boyd, 67, of Northridge, CA, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011. A native of Birchwood, TN, she has been a resident of the Los Angeles area for the past 30 years and was a Professor at Cal State Northridge. She had dedicated her life to deaf children and hearing impaired students and was on the board of the American Society of Deaf Children and the Jewish Deaf Congress. She was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mistie Hixson Boyd and was also preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Boyd. She is survived by her loving family, Cousins, Gary and Donna Sneed; nephews, Todd and Samuel Sneed all of Ooltewah, TN; Rose Willard, Cleveland, TN; Reva and DeWayne Burton; Katrina McKenzie all of Soddy-Daisy; Tim Burton, Birchwood, TN; Mary Ruth Brooks, Cleveland, TN; aunt and uncles, Gladys Anderson, Cookeville, TN and Lavern and Marshall Boyd, Manchester, TN. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. There will no visitation at the funeral home.
