Andy was born on February 4, 1968, in Sheboygan, WI. His family then moved to Brandon, FL where he attended middle school and graduated from Brandon High School in 1986. He furthered his education at the University of Tampa, earning a bachelor's degree in business. In 1999, he married the love of his life, Daina, embarking on a beautiful journey together with the love of traveling. Andy devoted 24 years of his life to educating and inspiring students as a PE teacher, athletic director, and coach at Brandon Academy, where he cherished the connections made with his students above all. After retiring at the age of 50, he and Daina relocated to Chattanooga, TN in 2018, eager to embrace new adventures. Andy will be lovingly remembered for his dedication to teaching, his unwavering love for his wife and friends, and the joyful spirit he brought to all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Sandra Schwonek Weiss and his uncle, Ronald Schwonek.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Daina Ponelis Weiss; Daina's mother, Aldona Ponelis; Daina's brother, Algis Ponelis; sister, Amber Weiss; aunt, Christine Schwonek; cousins, Jimmy Schwonek and Jerry Schwonek; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Jake Moore, Todd Pratt, and Shannon Claxton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be later announced for the spring of 2025 in both Chattanooga, TN and Tampa, FL.
